Class of '78

Thanks, Uncle Dave!

This one is from the fall tournament from 1978. (Note the water level) Look close, and you'll see at least three Wipout the Clowns, the future Captain of the FSU ski team, state and regional champions, and a whole bunch of great friends.

Class of '80

Thanks to Uncle Dave Westerman for sending these to us!

The Ski City Team takes on all comers at Poole's Knob, Percy Priest.
I'm pretty sure Rob Adkins won this round, beginning the demise of the funky shaped MasterCraft skis. First place that year earned a plaque and two cans of Varallo's white beans (with ham).

L-R - Rob Adkins, DeDe Westerman, Jimmy Herrin, Rod McDow, and Giny Adkins.

I'm not sure what to say about this.......

Class of '84

Thanks to Sheila Moffit and Donna Beers for sending these to us!

Before houseboats had central air conditioning, the club met most days in the broiling sun from dawn 'till dusk. Between the pyramids, kites, and jump acts, the show team was doing exhibitions at Metrocenter and what is now Riverfront Park in Nashville, as well as the summer festival in Clarksville. The big competition then was between our show team and Cypress Gardens. (We would have won if Cypress Gardens had known about it.) Our real "foes" in the area were the Music City Ski Club, but they never flew Harry Beers under the Shelby Street Bridge on a parasail! Take that, you weenies!

Somewhere between the course sign and the jump was populated with the raft of boats. Chigger beach usually had a grill going on it, and somebody was always getting ready to ski. The back two boats are the only boats that I know of still operating on the lake, Fred's Nautique and Ruth's "generic" Mastercraft. Back in the day, we could not only name every tournament level boat on Center Hill, but recognize them by ear coming up the channel. Two speedos and a stopwatch, that's where it's at!
